German Law in English
A select bibliography

Preface

This bibliography is intended to assist those English speaking lawyers who do not speak any German and who have to look for translated legal material or articles or books written in English if they wish to make themselves familiar with particular topics of the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Material which appeared before 1970 has been implemented into this bibliography only occasionally, e.g. if the article or book in question continue to be of particular importance or general informative value.

Because of the particular importance of the Roman law for the development of the German civil law a major part on this field of law has also been included in the bibliography.

Those who have access to inter-library loan facilities will appreciate the inclusion into the bibliography of articles published in countries even so remote from Germany as New Zealand (see CREW under No. 32).

The project of this bibliography has been initiated by a working group of German university lecturers in Great Britain who teach German law. Preparatory meetings were financially supported by the London Branch of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The editors wish to express their grateful appreciation of this support at this occasion.

The editors are also much endebted to the German Academic Exchange Service Central Office in Bonn which arranged the printing of this bibliography.
